Cervia's new masts
After a year of fund raising and working hard on preparing two trees, the Cervia’s new masts were finally lifted into place on Tuesday 4th August 2015. The photos show the various stages, starting with the placing of coins as is the custom, at the base of the masts. All the wires and ropes are now in place, and it is intended to raise the Watkins house flag as soon as possible. This will be the first time in over 50 years that the flag has been raised.
The masts were shaped and prepared by the Cervia's Volunteer maintenance crew, The funding of the 5,000.00 needed, was raised by all the volunteers, and generous support was given by Ramsgate Town Council, The National Historic Ships UK, The Weld of Fabrication and the Thanet Male Voice Choir.
WE THANK YOU ALL.
