Although the recent cold weather prevents normal maintenance on board, other tasks can be addressed. I'm pleased to say that we have no more leaks, and that the work in cleaning up since the flooding of the engine and boiler rooms has started. All three of the boiler furnaces have been pumped dry, and that the inevitable rust on the engine is being worked on. The Cervia has been sunk once, and flooded on two occasions, but she has survived.
Discussions are ongoing between the owner, Thanet District Council, and the harbour master, regarding the longtime future of the Cervia, and the Maritime Museum, of which Cervia is on loan too. There is also the matter of Cervia's insurance that is a requirement of Port of Ramsgate, and of which allows the public on board, which again is the subject of discussions with the owner and the insurance company.
