a very busy month on board, lots of visitors, including Jackie Simmons, who presented to us a DVD showing tugs, ships, and views of the Thames, this has been added to our comprehensive collection that we show to our visitors. the website has also been very busy, and for those of you out there who are into face book, we only need a few more "likes" to reach our first milestone.
work on the new mainmast is gaining pace, we now have the first of several coats of primer and undercoats on, the planing an sanding has been carried out mostly by Sid Conway, ex sun tugs, well those of you who are familiar with Alexanders, will expect nothing less from a sun tug man. well done Sid.
also special thanks to two lady members of CVC,Penny Webb and Janet Reid for raising a total over £500.00 with their garden party and coffee mornings.
i am pleased to thank the steam museum trust at Preston, for delivering back to us what remains of the old mast. this will be of great use , to determine what fits where, when ordering all the brackets etc for the new mast. see picture below.
the crew cabin down aft, has been refurbished and decorated complete with enamel teapot ! by Alan Corby, ex Watkins crewman.
