Flying Bridge

Flying Bridge
Picture 9 of 24

When you stand on the flying bridge, you are presented with a bird’s eye view of almost 360 degrees. From this lofty position, albeit very exposed the captain was able to view all of his surroundings which was essential when towing ships weighing thousands of tons. Up here all the equipment necessary for controlling the tug was available to him, steering, compass, telegraph, and the steam whistle activated by lanyards.
